Mars versus Venus

This was a great book that I had just finished a couple of days ago. Yes, it is the old aged classic book of 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'. It was published in 1992. (Damn I was just a three year old kid sucking my fingers)

Can men and women live together peacefully?

I had been deciding whether to buy this book last year using the vouchers our beloved Ah Jib Kor gave. Finally bought it this year as I do not have pretty much to spend on. Turned out to be good book beyond my expectations. I thought I knew much about men and women. I was wrong.

To sum it up, men come from Mars. In Mars, the people there (men) are very dedicated workers who fight for fame and pride. They believe that they are the best nation when it comes to decision making, planning and fixing things. They like to win, they like to fix problems. But only fixing when the problem arises. They say 'do not fix if it's working'. They need constant motivation from their peers, acknowledgement for their success and have pride in what they achieved.

Women, on the other hand, come from a totally different planet. Venus, is known for it's soft and friendy nature. But it doesn't mean that they are docile. They love to care and share feelings even though it seems trivial. They feel loved when they are cared and heard upon. Venusians however, can be undecisive and emotional without any apparent reason. Perhaps because of that, they treasure time spent together and champion friendship.

Men and women are totally different but are able to live together if and only if they knew about each other. Every being is unique, so are humans when it comes to relationships. Men need the acknowledgement and praises from women while the women loved to be heard and cared by men.

This book not only gave me a clear insight regarding relationships, it also made me understand why mum (as a women) and I (as a men) can argue and disagree about many things, while the reverse happens between me and my dad.

My mum, as a typical classic woman, likes to teach and nag. Men do not like to be offerred help unless they ask for it. Women like to fix things even if they are not spoilt. For instance, mum teaches me to cook. I know to cook, but being a little off the taste isn't that bad as it's the first time. But mum insists to to step in and help. See the difference?

Oh well, anyway, there's much more inside. Whoever's interested can approach me for the book. I'm landing it for free. LOL
